Private Practice spoilers!
Written on 4 January 2009 by Jenn
I have Private Practice news and spoilers! Things are really going to heat up when this show returns. Proving those ugly cancellation rumors wrong. Rumors that ABC have already shot down. Let’s see…some one is coming back, some one is knocked up, some one proposes and some one does some thing that involves kissing to feel guilty about.
Lots of spoilers beyond the cut…
Eagle Eye

This movie totally surprised me. I had a feeling I was going to really dislike it. Boy was I surprised. It was a whole lot of fun. Action packed and tween friendly. Our daughter who is nine and half watched it with us and other then a few swear words we had no objections.

The story is very exciting and the acting is very well done. Shia LaBeouf really holds his own. Michelle Monaghan also gives an amazing performance, as well as Rosario Dawson. The visuals in this film were a huge part of the movie and were incredible. If this film is an example of what he can do, I am hoping to see more movies from director D.J. Caruso (Disturbia) make their way to the big screen.
Overall, I highly recommend this movie.

More on “Bitches”
Written on 31 December 2008 by JennFOX is taking another spin into the supernatural, ordering a pilot script for a dramedy about a group of friends who are also werewolves.

The project, called “Bitches,” and comes from film writer Michael Dougherty (”Superman Returns”). FOX has given it a script commitment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Elsewhere, Spike TV has ordered a pilot for a college-football comedy called “Blue Mountain State.”
As described, “Bitches” sounds kind of like “Sex and the City” crossed with “The Howling.” It centers on four women in New York who turn into wolves at every full moon, and all the attendant problems that causes. The HR calls the script “a quirky urban fairy tale.”
The writing team of Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts (”Pushing Daisies,” “Pepper Dennis”), who have worked on several series, will executive produce along with Dougherty, who’s making his first foray into television. His other credits include “Trick ‘r Treat” and “X-2: X-Men United.”
Spike’s “Blue Mountain State” follows freshman players at a football powerhouse who must adapt to life away from home and suffer hazing from their older teammates. The cast includes former college football star Ed Marinaro (”Hill Street Blues”) as the team’s coach and “Smallville” veterans Sam Jones III and Alan Ritchson as two of his players.
“Sarah Silverman Program” scribes Eric Falconer and Chris Romano wrote the pilot and will executive produce with Brian Robbins (”Smallville,” “Varsity Blues”), who will also direct.

Coming soon to TNT
Written on 31 December 2008 by Jenn
This January TNT launches Trust Me, a show about a Chicago ad agency starring Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh. From the producers of Nip/Tuck and The Closer. Trust Me debuts at 10pm (ET/PT) Jan. 26.
McCormack plays Mason, a creative director who’s quick on his feet but occasionally insecure. He’s a nice guy in a ruthless world, waiting for his inner go-getter to take over. Cavanagh plays Conner, Mason’s more impulsive, unpredictable professional partner. Their relationship takes a crazy turn early on in the series, when Mason is promoted and becomes Conner’s boss.
From the previews I’ve seen, I’m liking the relationship between Conner and Mason already — and Cavanagh, especially, seems adorable as always. I’ve been a fan of his since Ed and was sad to see Love Monkey get the axe. I’m really rooting for this show to be good.
Check out this sneak peek from TNT, I think it has real promise.
Bye, Bye, Balthazar?
Written on 30 December 2008 by Jenn
Balthazar Getty isn’t feeling the brotherly love on the set of ABC’s TV show Brothers and Sisters.
E! Online reports, “Chatter on the set has it that discussions may have begun between Getty and producers on how best to ease him out of the show.” And Entertainment Weekly goes even farther, saying that Balthazar’s option as a full-time series regular next season is being dropped, though he might stay on the show as a recurring guest star.
So far, his rep is denying all the gossip.
Getty supposedly began losing friends at work back in July when it was revealed he had left his wife and the mother of his four children, Rosetta, for Sienna Miller. And it didn’t help that Miller was the former girlfriend of Getty’s Brothers & Sisters co-star Matthew Rhys.
Earlier reports said Getty has been continuously late to the set, and when he arrives, he’s in foul moods. A source said, “They often have to move shooting schedules around to accommodate [him].” Then, when shooting was delayed, he appeared to become impatient, reportedly barking, “When are we going to shoot this?” And when they did start filming, Getty was “forgetting his lines,” reported the source.
Last week, website Crazy Days and Nights reported Getty had been fired. This is the same site that was first to report T.R. Knight was leaving Grey’s Anatomy. ABC denied the report back then … we saw how that ended.

The Women on dvd
Written on 30 December 2008 by Jenn
being on vacation I’ve had the chance to catch up on a lot of movie watching. One them; The Women, staring Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
The movie wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t sit through it, but I can’t say it would make any kind of “good movie” list of mine. I think what made it watchable for me is the talented, star studded cast. Look for some great scene stealers from Bette Midler, Candice Bergen and Cloris Leachman. Sadly, they just aren’t enough to carry the film.
It is a terribly predictable story of a broken marriage and the typical support group of Sex & The City type friends. I did enjoy the fact that there is not one man in the entire movie. I would love to see more movies made by, staring and about women over 35. I just hope there is more thought put in to them then this let down of a chick flick.

Marley & Me
Written on 30 December 2008 by Jenn Got together the other day with a good friend of mine, Allison, my Aunt and my parents and we all went to see Marley & Me.
All of us adults had read the book and LOVED it. One of my all time favorites! One I am thinking of reading again some time soon.

The movie was perfectly cast and very well done. I really thought Jennifer and Owen had great chemistry together as a married couple. Of course a movie can never really compete with a book no matter how well made it is but this is one of the better attempts. Even though there were scenes in the book I was hoping to see on screen and didn’t, I wasn’t sitting in the theater picking it apart for an hour. It really sucked me in and judging by all the crying going on around me during the last twenty minutes, I wasn’t the only one.
I don’t think you have to be a real “dog person” to really enjoy this movie but it helps. Reading the critics reviews of Marley & Me, I feel they have been way too hard on it. It’s not a master piece with any political statement behind it. I found it a refreshing and sweet look in to the emotional ups and downs of a young family.
Just lighten up and enjoy.
After leaving the theater we all went to eat as a group and all agreed on liking the movie and felt it was worth the time and money. 6 of us, all different ages. I’d say that’s a pretty good thumbs up.

2008 Winners & Losers
Written on 30 December 2008 by Jenn
If only Wall Street had bet on Twilight. Or Hannah Montana. Or Kirk Cameron.
With a $167.3 million overall domestic take as Sunday, per Box Office Mojo, Twilight made more than four times its reported $37 million production budget—the best rate of return on any film in the 2008 Top 10, including The Dark Knight.
The Batman epic was a pretty good investment, too, very nearly tripling its gargantuan $185 million budget with a $530.8 million domestic take, Hollywood’s second-biggest ever.
Still, The Dark Knight was nothing compared to these off-the-charts performers: High School Musical 3: Senior Year ($89.7 million), which grossed about eight times its $11 million budget; the Hannah Montana concert movie, which made about nine times its $7 million budget; and Cameron’s Fireproof, which cost $500,000 to produce, and made $33.1 million—or, more than 60 times its budget.
Other winners—and losers—of the box-office year that was, per stats from Box Office Mojo and The-Numbers.com:
